Tidal River Finale

It has taken me until this morning to get back to the library to photograph the finished installation - the week is a blur.  My priority list was top-heavy!  I have declared today an official 'day off', and a time to reflect and restore my energy for what is coming roaring down the river next.

OK, I am off to the studio to putter around on this rainy Saturday afternoon.  Flossy and I have a date for tea out at my friend Polly's at 2pm, and then we'll go home to the Sailor and his fire.

Tidal River Installation, Day 1

This was the day I had been waiting for: installation of my project at the new public library.  Shortly after 10am the crew had the scaffolding and all the necessary tools in place, and got started.

The first silk organza panel being leveled.  They hang on aluminum rods suspended on thin steel cables which are threaded thru eye-screws fastened to the ceiling.

The wall above the circulation desk is curved and the ceiling slopes, making measurements tricky and time consuming.

Watching the boys way up there was very nerve wracking!

By 3pm, 7 of the 12 panels were up and we have a sure shot at completing the installation tomorrow.  Please join me for Part Two and the finale in my next post.

My proposal for 'Tidal River' has been accepted.

You will be seeing more about this in the next several months. 
I am very excited about the opportunity to create a large project for a beautiful new space in our town. 
Thank you to the committee who deliberated over the many elegant proposals submitted by wonderful artists local and farther afield.  I am grateful and honored to have been among those selected.
