Walk After Work

After work on Tuesday I took a long walk with my dog up a nearby logging road.
A little ditch at the side of the road had an interesting shape.
The ditch is fed by tiny waterfalls.
Tall trees and small shrubs abound.
Moss covers anything that lays around for long.
Lots of great texture and color in this stump, which towered above me.
The skunk cabbages are just appearing.
Chrome yellow, and look at the maroon at the base of the plant on the right.

The Picnic

On Saturday my family and I went out the road to Ohmer Creek for a picnic after work.  Here is a wild celery skeleton.
I like the X of these alder trees along the creek bank.
Christen and Flossy head back to the camp fire for a hot dog.
After supper the trees against the sky caught my eye.
Silhouettes of alders against the evening blue.
These branches will come into play in my next body of work.

All over the place...

A three-ring circus of a studio week!  On Good Friday I dyed with black, adding small amounts of primary colors.  My intent: to create backgrounds for framed works.
Before I could start dyeing, I boxed up my completed work for the Ketchikan show, to avoid potential splash-induced tragedy.  If you look closely at the piece in the foreground you can see the tacking threads which hold the dye-painting to the stretched canvas.
Easter Sunday morning at my church, with the Alleluia banner I created several years ago hanging in joyous proclamation: Christ is Risen!!!
I love the frilly lichens decorating this tree in the woods surrounding my house.
