Drawing Challenge: Swanlights

This week the incredible Stefanie challenged all comers with the theme: 'Swanlights'.  What a poetic word, what ethereal music by 'Antony and the Johnsons' of whom I had never heard (but am so glad I did, thank you Stefanie).

Last night I sat in my chair and listened again to the music, letting it dictate the image as much as possible.  Water media seemed the most appropriate, so here is what landed on my sketchbook page in inktense pencil, waterbrush, and gouache.

I hope you can float over to see the interpretation of this most unusual subject by a number of very creative artists whose links are presented at Stefanie's place.

  1. hello Sus,

    such a wonderfully dreamy piece.

  2. Sgweeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! This tickles to look at. Such power and delicate beauty all at the same time. It dances with its' own light (of essence.) Love it Sus! Fabulous. Stunning. Good cheer and hope you are staying warm and dry and cozy. Hugs, Norma, x

  3. Oh, I love this. The circles, the colors, the dreaming girl - I want to dream with her.

  4. Yes! Water and a shimmery, sparkly intangible light. Absolutely perfect. Cindi

  5. Dear Susan, oh you make me happy: you did it, you listened to the music (and that you like it, makes me feel close to you) and you made this beautiful drawing, so dreamy, yes, water and the circles are great, symbols of eternity!
have a nice week x Stefanie

  6. I listen to the music as well and I can say YES, yes your dreamy drawing really resonates the song.
