Drawing Challenge - Circus

Miss Gloria and her wonder horse, Trixie, appeared in my sketchbook this week in response to thoughts about the Big Top.  At one time in my life, owning a horse trumped all other desires.  And of course, I would love to join the circus.

Inktense watercolor pencils and Pigma pen in 8"x6" gamma

Thank you to the amazing Helen at Objects of Whimsey for this star-studded challenge.  Much more circus action over there - go have a look!

  1. it is rather a childhood want for most, isn't it, horses and trapeze bat women... well, you've captured it well, your lovely childhood image.
i wonder if circuses are still as popular as before, i really do wonder now.

  6. I am loving Miss Gloria's green tights, and Trixie's smile. What a lovely smile has Trixie. Love the name and love how well she performs to hold up Miss Gloria. Clearly these two are a loving team and enjoy giving us thrills and chills with their daring feats. Love the child like quality of this drawing. Gorgeous as always, *smiles* Norma, xo

  7. Sus, watching Miss Gloria and Trixie's tricks would be the highlight of many a girl's circus dreams! Circus life never appealed to me due to the many scary clowns hanging about! xo Carole
