I have been looking a lot at the work of one of my favorite painters again recently. Elizabeth Murray's (1940-2007) use of humor, color and form endlessly inspire me. Here is a video clip of Elizabeth talking about resolving a painting.
I am so excited to get back to work at the studio tomorrow. Hope you are working well this week and finding resolution. See you over the weekend for the Drawing Challenge, presented this week to us by BarbaraBee.
Thank you for posting this video, Sus. Her words, especially the part about "natural resolution" struck a cord with me. I'll rewatch now. Bye and have a great week. xo Carole

Sus,
ReplyDeleteThis was good. There were several parts that really resonated; and it was helpful to hear the parts of someone else's creative process that are difficult but still can be resolved.
Hope the rest of the week is productively creative for you! xx Cindi
thanks Sus,my day starts very good looking at this video :) x
ReplyDeletegreat video! now I would like to paint..
ReplyDeletewish you a creative time in your studio! see you saturday! :-) mano
Thanks Sus for this video, it says just everything about making art, not only that it never work to just blow up a small art work into a bigger piece, but also the different stages of working on it with the fucked up part in the middle where you hate it and it seems to be destroyed and if you get over this point there starts to be something good and in the end you're really happy.

Enjoyed this video and appreciated being introduced to this artist, Sus. She summed it all up perfectly. This is how I feel with the Pomegranate Tree Quilt. It seems there is a moment where you say, "This is the worst thing I've ever done"--and that's a good thing because you're into unchartered territory.
