Daily Project - DC

Hurrah for the beautiful and talented Stefanie who presented this week's drawing challenge, Daily Project. 
'Elephant Hawk Moth' - pencil in 5x7 moleskine

I have needed to begin a portfolio for my eventual application to the natural science illustration certificate program I am interested in applying for this spring.
'Arctiid Moth' - pencil in 5x7 moleskine
For Stefanie's challenge, I checked a beautiful book of butterfly photographs out from our library and did a sketch of one each day during my evening drawing session. 
'Costa Rican Glasswing' - pencil in 5x7 moleskine
Each night I was more comfortable drawing from the photographs, concentrating on the details of each creature...
'Common Blue' - pencil in 5x7 moleskine
...shape of wings, body proportion, wing veining, antennae.
'Luna Moth' - pencil in 5x7 moleskine
The work was so relaxing, and made a good start on my portfolio.

    Hi, Sus. Insects proved such interesting sketching subjects. Enjoyed seeing your daily practice and also enjoyed your pink post. It's looking chilly in your neck of the woods while I get to walk among the wildflowers of spring...

    Hi, Susan, your butterflies are nicely drawn, "almost flying", them escape from the paper. the butterflies is a good example for the topic "daily project" because her life, from the egg, is a small change every day,

    the 'Arctiid Moth' is my favourite so far. I have always loved moths; they seem to be creatures from another world. and as I am a night person, they have always been some sort of compangions. I would so like to take this course with you! xoxo
